Seasonal Operations & Winter Access

OHSF and its member clubs are not designed, equipped, or operated for winter use. Programs, supervision, and on-site services are not provided during the winter season, which begins when a club’s docks are taken out (typically around November 10) and ends when they are put back in (typically around April 10). Roads, docks, facilities, and grounds are not maintained for winter use. Access to club property during the winter season, or at any time when winter conditions are present, is at the individual’s own risk.

Each member club sets and publishes its own docks-out and docks-in dates, which may be earlier or later than those above depending on weather. Please check with your club for its current dates.

Know Before You Go

  • Winter conditions don’t follow the calendar. Snow, ice, and cold can arrive before docks come out and linger after they go back in. Check the weather page before you head out.
  • Cold water is dangerous. Cold shock and loss of strength and coordination can happen within minutes, even on a warm day. Dress for the water temperature, not the air, and keep your PFD on. See our cold water safety guidance.
  • Emergency response may be slower. Regatta Road has few landmarks and limited lighting. In an emergency, dial 911 and tell the dispatcher exactly where you are.

Webcams, sensors, and forecasts linked from our site are provided by third parties for general information and may be delayed, offline, or inaccurate. Always assess conditions yourself.
